If you’re already tired of hearing about pumpkin spiced lattes, join us in gleefully embracing the return of Great Lakes Brewing Co.’s Christmas Ale with the first pour at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the brewery’s taproom. While Tina and Don P. already won this year’s first pour contest, there will assuredly be plenty of merry pints to go around. Plus, snack on snow-cones, and cinnamon and sugar barley pretzels, and Christmas Ale sausages that can be enjoyed in a winter wonderland-themed beer garden complete with carolers and elves.

Then, on Halloween, the GLBC gift shop will start carrying six-packs and cases with other distribution outlets set to follow stocking the heavily spiced brew during the first few days of November.

As a nod toward this year’s first pour photo contest, we culled together some of our own jolly shots featuring the holiday brew in a variety of incarnations: the frosted bottle, the equally potent cocktail-form, the six-pack that traveled to Paris, our own version of Mitchell’s decadent Christmas Ale Gingersnap ice cream and the exuberant notice of arrival.
